As a teacher of French & English A2/B, as
well as Theory of Knowledge, my range of professional skills
and international experience is broad. Across five
continents, I have gained valuable experience in a variety
of demanding cultural and educational contexts. Regardless
of my role within a school - and I have had many - I have
contributed to the success and advancement of student and
faculty by sharing my commitment to the principles of
equality, internationalism and enquiry-based learning. As an
IBDP coordinator and examiner over many years (French B and,
long ago, ToK), I can bring a wealth of IB experience,
gained since 1986, to my new school.
In addition to my extensive experience as
a subject teacher, my commitment to the educational and
pastoral needs of Upper School students as they prepare for
the next phase of their lives has never been stronger.
Leading by example has always been one of my personal goals.
Having patience and a sense of humour is something of a
pre-requisite for any teacher or administrator; I display
quiet diplomacy and a flexible, collegial approach to my
work.
While I am a French national brought up
and educated in England, I have travelled extensively as a
teacher and administrator in order to challenge my own
pre-conceptions as well as those of my students. My teaching
of French A2/B and English literature and language (also
A2/B), coupled with Theory of Knowledge, has further
sensitized me to the perceptions and needs of
culturally-diverse peoples.
Having travelled so much, I am a very
adaptable and open-minded individual. Linked to this
thought, may I add that the peripatetic appearance of my
curriculum vitae over the last five years or so has largely
been accidental due to changing family circumstances.
