"She has got to be the nicest and best teacher in the world."

Curriculum Vitae

It's time for a change!

I am ready for an adventure. I love teaching in Illinois, but the world is a big place, and I want to see more of it. I love traveling and have been all over the United States, overseas on my own, and on many educational field trips abroad. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my knowledge with others. With my master's degree in English and ten years of experience, I think I'm ready for the challenge.

Streamwood High School has a very diverse population. I have taught all grade levels, special needs students, ESL students, foreign exchange students, and exceptional students. I have been very lucky to work closely with great colleagues.

I was even able to team-teach a cross-curricular course that I helped develop. I also had the pleasure of sponsoring and creating many after-school clubs, one with an art teacher. I love going to conferences and taking education classes. I also spend lots of time serving on committees in the district.

Recently I worked with Carole Cooper in a course on student-centered assessment. Students in my class are active learners and responsible for helping me create new and interesting assessment projects and activities. We also work together developing scoring rubrics. I believe that if students are aware of the process, a more deep and thorough learning takes place that will transfer into real world situations later in life. We also keep portfolios to assess student progress.

I am a fun and creative teacher who helps students see the relevance and value of language in a wide variety of literature from different cultures and genres. Working in the biggest suburban district in the state has made me very flexible and given me a great sense of humor. I cant wait to start my overseas teaching job!

Let me tell you that she is a very interesting, yet fun teacher. You'll never look at English the same way...Also, Ms. Myers loves questions. First because she loves to teach and also because it prepares her for other classes. Overall, Ms. Myers is a great fun teacher, and she made senior English class something I'll never forget, and I'm sure you won't either.
-- Nicole Canale

You will be reading a lot this year. And you will be writing a lot this year, but please don't get upset. Ms. Myers does a very good job of telling you what you need to write and explains things out so you can write them well.

This English class is not like every other class. This teacher is not like every other teacher. Just trust me, you will love it...You can say whatever you want (almost), and you know you'll be listened to. You can always say your point of view. Ms. Myers is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She actually knows what she is talking about. She is intelligent, honest, and fair.
-- Violet Kiepura

Ms. Myers is a cool, nice teacher. She hates negative thinking... I never liked reading before I came to Ms. Myers Sophomore English class, but now I love reading. I couldn't believe that. Another thing that she changed something about me is I always hated giving speeches and all that, but now I think it is fun to give a speech.
-- Cheryl Geyer

She's my favorite. Do not get on her bad side. Its really hard to; so don't try...She is so funny, once you learn her humor. This is not a class to be a quiet person. If you are, start being outgoing.
